Inpatient Drug Rehab & Addiction Treatment Center Louisville KY

In 2019, the Kentucky Chamber Workforce Center compiled a list of troubling drug statistics about Kentucky, taken from data compiled two years earlier. It revealed that:

  • An average of four Kentucky residents dies every day from a drug overdose, making the state’s overdose rate the fourth highest in the nation.
  • The rate of opioid prescriptions in Kentucky ranked it seventh out of 50 states.
  • Kentucky ranked third in the nation for the number of babies born addicted to opioids.
  • Kentucky has one of the highest rates in the country of pregnant women who use opioids.

Kentucky — and by extension, Louisville — has a drug problem. It’s not the only city in the country with one, but fortunately for residents in or near Louisville, it is one of the few within a half-day’s drive of one of the best addiction treatment centers in the nation.

Cornerstone of Recovery is a comprehensive drug rehab located just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, roughly four hours south of Louisville — close enough to get there in an afternoon, but far enough away that those who struggle with a drug problem can find a fresh start at a facility that’s been offering quality addiction treatment since 1989. Over the years, we’ve helped thousands of addicts stop using, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live — because recovery doesn’t equal abstinence, and addiction treatment involves so much more than simply putting down drugs.

That part begins in our safe, medically supervised detox program, which lasts 3 to 5 days and helps Louisville residents who come to us get off of the drugs that have made their lives unmanageable. Afterward, they’ll transition to one of our four residential inpatient addiction treatment programs: Newcomers, for those being introduced to addiction recovery for the first time; Recovery Renewal, for individuals who have been to an addiction treatment center before, or had periods of abstinence, but who have relapsed; Young Adult, which gives men ages 18 to 26 a more active outlet for their recovery journey; and our Women’s Program, which is designed to give female patients a safe place in which to process issues and traumas unique to them.

We do it all from a modern, four facility campus that opened in 2017 and features comfortable living accommodations in our residence tower, three hot meals daily in our dining hall, exercise therapy in our state-of-the-art fitness center and a range of therapies and services all designed with one purpose in mind: to help those who come to us address the reasons they return to drugs in spite of negative consequences. From trauma therapy to activity therapy to dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders by our psychiatric team, what we do is so much more than just another drug rehab.

It’s a whole-person approach to addiction treatment: aiding the body, mind, emotions and spirit into better health, and thanks to our comprehensive network of insurance partners, chances are good that if you live in Louisville and have private or commercial health insurance, we take your plan and can provide you with the help you need to change your life.

Your Recovery Journey Begins Here

Three Reasons Why You Need to Call Today to Get Addiction and Alcoholism Treatment

  • We’re in the middle of great economic uncertainty. Unemployment rates reached their highest levels in history in April, which means COVID-19 took a catastrophic toll on the job market this spring. If you have a job — or even if you don’t, but you still have benefits provided by your previous place of employment — you’re fortunate. And you should take advantage of those benefits to get the help you need for a drug or alcohol problem today, because there’s no guarantee you’ll have the resources to do so down the road.

  • No one is truly certain what life in the time of coronavirus looks like going forward. Yes, there are still new cases being logged daily, and yes, it’s certainly a health concern for anyone and everyone. But if you’re struggling with addiction and alcoholism, you’re already sick — and the disease you’re battling is far more likely to claim your life than COVID-19. Overdose deaths kill more Americans annually than all combat deaths in the Vietnam War, and alcohol-related deaths claim 88,000 lives yearly. If you have an alcohol or drug problem, you’re more likely to become one of those statistics than a COVID-19 victim.

  • Putting it off for another day is no longer an option. You may tell yourself that it is … and you may have made it this far without treatment … but are you truly living? In our experience — and many of us who work at Cornerstone are in recovery ourselves — suffering from addiction and alcoholism is just existing. Our problems slowly get worse, our health slowly declines and we’re stuck in wreckage of our own making, until we’re faced with two choices: get help, or lose everything. Why wait until the latter when with a simple phone call, you can choose the former?

Louisville Drug Rehab Programs

As one of the premier recovery centers in the Southeast United States, Cornerstone of Recovery was founded by an individual who had discovered the spiritual and emotional freedom that recovery provides. Although his drug and alcohol addictions had cost him a career as a high-ranking business executive, he found a second calling as a recovery advocate, and in 1989, he opened a residential treatment center in a small strip mall with 18 beds and 22 staff members. Through hard work and dedication to a core set of recovery principles that have never wavered, Cornerstone has thrived over the past three decades, and today we occupy a four-facility campus on 25 acres along a tributary of the Tennessee River.

Our staff is roughly 250 strong, and the majority of those who work here are in recovery themselves. We understand those who struggle with drug addiction because we’ve walked those dark roads ourselves, and as it states in one particular collection of recovery literature, “the therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel.”

What Is Involved In Addiction Treatment Programs?

The people are at the heart of our treatment programs, but the addiction recovery we provide at Cornerstone involves so much more than just counseling by like-minded peers. From the moment you arrive on campus, you’ll be escorted through the process by caring, compassionate individuals who get you assessed and oriented shortly after arrival, during which time you’ll have input into an individualized treatment plan that maps out the issues, problems and areas of your life that need the most attention.

After a stay in our safe, medically supervised detox program — usually lasting three to five days — they’re then assigned to one of our four treatment programs:

Newcomers Inpatient Program

Those seeking addiction treatment for the first time are often lost, confused, scared and shameful. The goal of the Newcomers Addiction Treatment Program is to help patients put those feelings aside, learn more about the disease that afflicts them, and pick up healthy coping skills that can prevent them from returning to drugs as a way of dealing with life on life’s terms.

Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program

Relapse isn’t a requirement, but it’s often a part of many individuals’ recovery journeys. In our Recovery Renewal Addiction Treatment Program, we take in those who have been to a drug rehab in the past, or who had periods of clean time, and we help them build their recovery programs into stronger foundations through therapy, counseling and other tools they may have overlooked previously.

Young Adult Inpatient Program

Young men ages 18 to 26 face their own unique set of circumstances, which means they need a program tailored to active bodies and restless spirits. In the Young Adult Addiction Treatment Program, our clinical staff focuses on developmental issues, behavior styles and energy levels specific to the young adult, so that they can rediscover the potential they may have lost due to their drug use.

Women Only Inpatient Program

Our therapies and treatment approaches work the same for both genders, but in our unique Women’s Only Addiction Treatment Program, we’ve created a haven for female patients who need to be among a sisterhood of fellow survivors in order to process issues, traumas and problems that are unique to them. It’s a powerful program that helps broken women become whole again.

After the completion of residential treatment, patients then have the option to take part in our Intensive Outpatient program, a 10-week continuation of care that adds another layer of safety and recovery knowledge. While staying on campus as part of our Support Living community, patients in this phase of treatment are given opportunities to work and volunteer locally, become involved in the East Tennessee recovery community and work toward privileges that slowly return them to a life that resembles the one to which they’ll return in Louisville, Kentucky.

Does Cornerstone Accept My Health Insurance?

If you have private or commercial health insurance, you’re in luck: Cornerstone of Recovery is in network with most providers, and over the years, we’ve provided addiction treatment to individuals from across the country, including many residents from or near Louisville. As a nationally respected drug rehab, we’re always glad to take your calls, answer your questions and help you determine if your insurance policy will provide you with the addiction treatment we provide. We’re in network with the following plans:

Just because your particular provider may not be listed here doesn’t mean we don’t take your plan. All it means is that you need to call us and let us figure out what you have and what coverage it provides. If you have any sort of commercial insurance, then you have co-occurring behavioral health benefits that will pay for services like substance abuse treatment. You may have a deductible, and a deposit may be required up front, but even then, we can talk you through financial arrangements that may include payment plans or other means. Navigating the fine print can be frustrating and frightening, but don’t let it deter you from asking for help. Our trained and compassionate Admissions counselors are standing by to help you figure this out; please call today to get started.

What Happens Next?

They say that to start recovering, addicts have to hit what’s known as a “bottom” — a low point in which the scales tip, and the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change. Making a decision to seek an end to our addiction can be difficult and frightening, and many addicts choose instead to linger in the familiar pain of dereliction, degradation and humiliation because the fear of the unknown, the thought of living without the use of drugs, is too great.

If it is, however, then it’s time to reach out and make that initial phone call. If the life you lead is too wear or too difficult to continue on one moment more, then it’s time to send up a white flag and do something different. That’s where we come in. We’re just down the road from Louisville, and if you’re willing to put forth a fraction of the effort into getting clean that you did into staying high, then you have a solid chance of success. Call us today and get started.

Why Consider Leaving Louisville For Treatment?

Sometimes, you just need to get away. Living in active addiction day in and day out often feels like a bomb has gone off in our lives. Our homes are physical and emotional wrecks; our bodies are exhausted and broken; our circle of support has slowly shrunken until we are, in many cases, absolutely alone. On those rare occasions we’re able to take a step back and examine that wreckage, we may feel overwhelmed, as if we’ll never be able to put things right. We can, but sometimes calling a “time out” and getting away from it all in order to get better is what you need to begin to do that.

Treatment options are no doubt plentiful in Louisville, but there are few as comprehensive, as nurturing or as successful as the treatment services offered at Cornerstone of Recovery. By leaving Louisville and making the four-hour drive down Interstate 75 to East Tennessee, you can escape the sense of impending doom that follows you everywhere in the place you call home, dispel the darkness that has descended over everything and discover a new way to live that will allow you to return home, when you’re ready, as a more peaceful, optimistic and healthy individual.

Still not sure Cornerstone is the right treatment center for you?
