• In 2010, that rate was 8.1 deaths per 100,000 meaning that in six years, it almost doubled.
• From 2010 to 2016, the number of heroin-related deaths grew from 39 to 544, and the number of overdoses related to synthetic opioids skyrocketed as well, from 170 to 601 deaths.
• In 2018, 16.9 percent of the adult population of North Carolina reported binge drinking or chronic drinking in the past 30 days.

What Does Addiction Treatment Involve?

While there are no doubt many capable treatment programs in North Carolina, few offer the sort of comprehensive care you’ll find at Cornerstone of Recovery. From the initial phone call to our trained and compassionate Admissions counselors, you’ll be reassured that you’re in the hands of individuals who have a keen understanding of what you’re facing. Roughly 90 percent of our clinical staff, and as much as 50 percent of our administrative staff, are in long-term recovery from addiction and alcoholism themselves, because we believe wholeheartedly in the recovery mantra that “the therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel.”

Once you arrive, our Assessment and Orientation staff members will use your input to design a specific treatment plan for your stay. Your first stop on your recovery journey will be in medical detox, where our around-the-clock medical care will assure that your withdrawal is as safe and as comfortable as possible through the administration of detox medications. A three- to five-day detox stay is typical, after which time you’ll transition into one of our four treatment programs:

Newcomers Residential Program

Think of it as “basic training,” without the drill sergeants and mandatory calisthenics. If you’re going to fight back against a disease that’s trying to kill you, then you need to know everything about it, and yourself, as possible. In addition to therapy, we impart a knowledge of the disease concept so that they have a better understanding of our core philosophy: that they’re sick people, not bad people, and treatment involves healing, not an overhaul of morality.

Young Adult Residential

Designed for men ages 18 to 26, it addresses life skills that may never have developed due to early onset addiction, as well as vocational therapy designed to help them make future plans for a life unencumbered by drugs.

Recovery Renewal Program

For those who have been through treatment in the past but have been unable to sustain long-term recovery afterward because of chronic relapses. It’s a more in-depth examination of life traps and core issues that may not have been previously addressed, so that moving forward, they can sustain their sobriety on a permanent basis.

Women’s Drug Rehab Program

Led by women, it’s a program that gives females a sisterhood of support that’s invaluable to their emergence as individuals far removed from the shadow of their former selves. A gender-specific program that includes all female patients, it’s a nurturing, healing environment you’ll be hard-pressed to find at any other facility.

 

In addition, our Intensive Outpatient Program provides an additional layer of safety for those who choose to stay on campus in our Sober Living facilities after completing residential treatment. Through continuing education classes and peer support groups, patients expand on their knowledge of their afflictions and grow their war chests to remain vigilant when they return to North Carolina.

Does Cornerstone Accept My Health Insurance?

Fighting a war costs money, and we fully recognize that few addicts and alcoholics are flush with cash. However, if you have commercial or private health insurance, chances are we’re in network with your provider. We’re an approved drug and alcohol treatment center by most health insurance companies, and because of federal guidelines, the behavioral health benefits provided by your plan must cover some of the treatment you need for medically recognized diseases like addiction and alcoholism.
