Inpatient Alcohol Rehab Asheville NC – Alcoholism Treatment Center

If you live in or near Asheville and find yourself staring out at the Blue Ridge Mountains, wondering if a life without alcohol is possible, know this: It is.

You may not believe it, but believe that we believe it, because here at Cornerstone of Recovery, we’ve provided alcoholism treatment to those who suffer for more than three decades. In fact, we were founded by a recovering alcoholic who believed that a comprehensive alcohol rehab would provide a chance for alcoholics to remove themselves from the vicious cycle of their disease, address the issues that drive them to continue to drink even in the face of negative consequences, and provide for them a peaceful and prosperous path forward.

We do it all from a picturesque, four facility campus on 25 acres located 15 minutes from downtown Knoxville and 30 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As one of the largest residential treatment providers in Tennessee, we’re in network with most major commercial and private health insurance plans, which means that even though you may live in Asheville, you can find hope, healing and recovery at Cornerstone. After all, we’ve been treating patients from the Asheville area for years, ever since we started out in a small 18-bed facility with 22 staff members. Today, we have 172 beds for patients in four distinct programs, to which they transition after completing a safe, medically supervised detox regimen: Newcomers, for first-time alcoholism treatment patients; Recovery Renewal, for those who have been to alcohol rehab previously or who have relapsed after a period of sobriety; Young Adult, a more robust and active program for men ages 18 to 26; and our unique Women’s Program, for female patients in need of a safe space in which to process issues unique to their gender.

Each program includes a number of components designed to treat the whole person, from physical activity in our state-of-the-art fitness center; to emotional healing via therapeutic modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and more; to family therapy that offers an opportunities for loved ones to get involved in the healing process via our Family Fundamentals weekend; to dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health issues by our psychiatric team. At Cornerstone of Recovery, we believe that alcoholism treatment involves so much more than simple abstinence, and long-term sobriety involves so much than just not drinking.

And we offer that sobriety to individuals from across the country, including many who live in or near Asheville. As professional alcohol rehab, we’re in network with most commercial and private insurance plans, so whether you live in Asheville or other parts of North Carolina, chances are good we take yours. To find out more, call us, and let’s get you started on a journey that will change your life.

Three Reasons Why You Need to Call Today to Get Addiction and Alcoholism Treatment

  • We’re in the middle of great economic uncertainty. Unemployment rates reached their highest levels in history in April, which means COVID-19 took a catastrophic toll on the job market this spring. If you have a job — or even if you don’t, but you still have benefits provided by your previous place of employment — you’re fortunate. And you should take advantage of those benefits to get the help you need for a drug or alcohol problem today, because there’s no guarantee you’ll have the resources to do so down the road.

  • No one is truly certain what life in the time of coronavirus looks like going forward. Yes, there are still new cases being logged daily, and yes, it’s certainly a health concern for anyone and everyone. But if you’re struggling with addiction and alcoholism, you’re already sick — and the disease you’re battling is far more likely to claim your life than COVID-19. Overdose deaths kill more Americans annually than all combat deaths in the Vietnam War, and alcohol-related deaths claim 88,000 lives yearly. If you have an alcohol or drug problem, you’re more likely to become one of those statistics than a COVID-19 victim.

  • Putting it off for another day is no longer an option. You may tell yourself that it is … and you may have made it this far without treatment … but are you truly living? In our experience — and many of us who work at Cornerstone are in recovery ourselves — suffering from addiction and alcoholism is just existing. Our problems slowly get worse, our health slowly declines and we’re stuck in wreckage of our own making, until we’re faced with two choices: get help, or lose everything. Why wait until the latter when with a simple phone call, you can choose the former?

Asheville Alcohol Rehab Programs

Alcoholism is a disease, and at Cornerstone of Recovery, we believe that alcoholics aren’t bad people trying to become good; they’re sick people who need to get well. That’s not a get-out-of-consequences-free card, by any means, but it does mean that on the other side of the Appalachians, those who suffer can begin to address aspects of their emotional, spiritual and mental health have plagued them long before they took their first drink.

Whether it’s depression, grief, trauma or other emotional issues, we have therapies used by our trained clinical staff to address the issues surrounding alcoholism. Our whole-person philosophy takes into account the physical needs of patients, through Fitness and Activity Therapy; the mental and emotional needs, through Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR trauma therapy and more; and the spiritual needs, through the work of our on-campus spiritual advisers as well as the bonds patients form with one another through group therapy and the communal experience of recovering from a life-and-death struggle.

Jess Gupton Shares Her Recovery Story

As Cornerstone of Recovery’s North Carolina Regional Outreach Manager, Jess Gupton often finds herself sharing her personal story of experience, strength and hope.

Her job takes her from her home in Asheville, which she shares with her partner, Vanessa; to Charlotte and beyond. She works closely with North Carolina businesses and companies to introduce Cornerstone’s proven track record of successful addiction treatment into new markets and industries. Her position involves a great deal of networking and establishment of new business contacts, but the most rewarding part of it, she says, is the time she spends with patients.

As Cornerstone’s primary point of contact in North Carolina, she’s often the face of Cornerstone to those who come to our 23-acre campus near Knoxville, Tenn., for residential addiction treatment. She’s a testament to the almost 30-year track record Cornerstone has of successfully delivering addicts and alcoholics from the depths of despair into the light of recovery, a path she knows all too well. By the time she found it herself in 2012, she was at the end of the road.

What Does Alcoholism Treatment Involve?

We get it: The biggest fear alcoholics and addicts have is that of how torturous detox will be. Maybe you’ve done it before on your own; perhaps your only acquaintance with detox is from movies. Whatever your preconceptions are, check them at the door.

At Cornerstone of Recovery, after a screening by our Assessment and Orientation counselors, who will work closely to develop an individual recovery plan of action for each patient, clients are entered into a period of safe, medically monitored detox. You’ll be given medication to slowly wean you from the chemicals in your system, you’ll be kept comfortable and you’ll be overseen by nurses and counselors around the clock. After a three- to five-day detox period, you’ll then transition to one of our four primary treatment programs:

Newcomers Inpatient Alcohol Program

Those seeking alcoholism treatment for the first time often struggle with the notion that they have a disease. In our Newcomers Alcoholism Treatment Program, we teach them about the medical and scientific basis behind the disease concept, as well as provide them with coping mechanisms and life skills to fill the internal emotional, mental and spiritual hole that has been plugged for so long with booze.

Young Adult Residential

For men ages 18 to 26, booze can derail lives before they truly get started. In our Young Adult Alcoholism Treatment Program, we’ve created a more robust, action-oriented alcohol rehab experience that engages young people physically, mentally and emotionally — and helps them rediscover the potential they may have covered up under the alcohol that’s brought them to treatment.

Recovery Renewal Program

Our Recovery Renewal Alcoholism Treatment Program is designed specifically for those who relapse and have been through alcohol rehab multiple times in the past, but are unable to sustain any significant amount of sobriety because of unresolved issues. We help strengthen what works, get rid of what doesn’t and get to the root of issues that were previously unaddressed.

Women’s Alcohol Rehab Program

Our Women’s Alcoholism Treatment Program is a gender-specific safe space for all female patients seeking alcohol rehab to process and deal with the emotional issues, traumas, family problems and gender roles unique to women while becoming a part of a sisterhood of survivors. From peer support to 12 Step groups to lectures and therapy led by female counselors, we help alcoholic women discover their inner strength and power.

In addition to residential treatment, Cornerstone provides Sober Living communities in which patients live on campus, three meals a day in our dining facility; Intensive Outpatient for post-inpatient follow-up treatment; and a introduction to the greater East Tennessee recovery community.

A Turning Point Towards Recovery

Cornerstone of Recovery was started by an alcoholic, and 30 years later, we’re still using the same methods that served him in his own sobriety: Individual work within the confines of a group setting, where counselors and patients alike use both clinical and traditional tools to stop drinking, lose the desire to do so and find a new way to live. That “way” is a short drive from Asheville to East Tennessee, where at Cornerstone, you’ll find home, you’ll heal and you’ll recover in a way you never imagined possible.

Why Consider Leaving Asheville For Treatment

You might be able to find sobriety at an Asheville recovery center, but we know for a fact you’ll find it at Cornerstone of Recovery. Sometimes, the best decision suffering alcoholics can make is to “check out” — to put their lives on hold, if they still have any semblance of normality, and get away from the city and the community that has been the center of so much chaos. Here, in long-term treatment on the other side of the mountains, alcoholics seeking a new way of life can take a deep breath and relax in the knowledge that they’re in good hands.

We like to tell those who come to us: “We know you, because we are you, and we can help you,” meaning that from our genesis under a recovering alcoholic, we’ve ascribed to the belief that “the therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel,” which is why more than 75 percent of our clinical staff members are in recovery themselves — including several Cornerstone alumni.

Throughout your stay at Cornerstone, you can deal with your issues, master your drinking problem and develop a new set of coping mechanisms that will allow you to return to Asheville with confidence that the tools we’ve given you, if properly applied, will help you stay sober and prosper
